The 7903 Type
Features
Security is a key element in these types of devices. The 7903 is based on a processor designed with security applications in mind. This processor has the following attributes:

128K of on Chip Memory
4K of on Chip Key Storage
Addressing capability of up to 16M of external memory
Physical/logical separation of security and AP memory

The large external memory capability will allow storage to support multiple device resident applications, handling multiple card protocols concurrently. The device has intrusion detection, which when triggered makes the unit inoperative. A privacy shield is part of the packaging, reducing the risk of PIN compromise during user entry.
Tischkartenleser, Tisch-Chipkartenleser, Tisch-Einsteckleser, Kassensystemleser, t=0 t=1 Protokoll, Download-Kartenleser, Verriegelung
Included in the product is code to perform security functions in compliance with:
ANSI X9.8 and IBM3624 PIN Block Processing
ANSI X9.17 and X9.24 for Key Management
   (including UKPT and DUKPT)
ANSI X9.19 for MACing
Local PIN Offset Generation
Local PIN Verification

Several models are available, to provide basic or more advanced card processing support.
The QX-7903-1supports magnetic track 1 and 2 read operations in
accordance to ISO 7811 Standard. Card read is supported on both     insertion and re-moval to optimize read results. A multicolor indicator help     to display device status. This base configuration includes 128K bytes of     memory for user applications and a 2x16 character LCD display.

The Model QX-7903-2 is a hybrid device, combining the functions of     magnetic and ICC card processing. This model offers program controlled     card latching, desirable for smart card transactions, 512K bytes of     memory for user applications and a stan-dard 4x20 LCD display.

The Model QX-7903-3 extends the Model 2 to include Compliance to     Mondex 3.0, with space for up to 3 SAM modules.

Other options available on either the model QX-7903-2 or QX-7903-3 include:
An APA version of the LCD is available, to support graphics or complex languages.
A range of user memory sizes, up to 2 Megabytes
Utilities to support generation of custom device resident applications
Read all 3 track of magnetic stripe
The Model QX-7903-1 can be powered via the PC keyboard or mouse port, however the Models QX-7903-2 and QX-7903-3 require an external 9V power adapter.

PC software is available to support:
Key Injection
Download if new device resident applications
PC application shells to support Mondex purse applications such as purse selec-tion, balance inquiry transfer, lock/unlock,    user authentication, print, etc.

Device drivers are provided to support Windows 95, 98 and Windows NT.
